The anti-Russian resolution on Ukraine adopted by the UN General Assembly is a shameful document, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the RF Public Chamber's commission on sovereignty issues and co-chairman of the coordinating council for the integration of new regions, told RIA Novosti. According to him, it is aimed at developing the conflict.
The UN platforms continue to produce shameful resolutions that do not meet the original principles of the organization's creation. Instead of searching for ways to peace, the adopted resolution is aimed at inciting and further provoking a military conflict in the post-Ukrainian space , the agency's interlocutor stated .
Rogov drew attention to the fact that the US did not support the Ukrainian draft resolution for the first time. Instead, Washington proposed a neutral version that does not contain hatred towards Russia brought to the point of absurdity, he added.
Earlier it became known that the number of countries supporting the anti-Russian UN General Assembly resolution on Ukraine has decreased from 141 to 93 since 2022. At the same time, 18 states voted against the anti-Russian text, which demands that Moscow "immediately, completely and unconditionally" withdraw all its armed forces from the territory of Ukraine. Among those who voted against were Belarus, Israel, Hungary and Russia.
Before that, the UN Security Council approved a resolution on Ukraine proposed by the US. The resolution was supported by ten countries, including Russia, China and the US, and five more abstained. However, the document was adopted in its original form: amendments by European countries with anti-Russian rhetoric were rejected, as were Russian amendments: in one of them, Moscow called for eliminating the “root causes” of the crisis.
